Small-scale faces and eyes
Establish the face’s light and shadow before adding eye detail.

Read the face
Start with skin midtones, eye-socket shadows and a nose highlight. Eyes that are barely visible at normal distance do not need every anatomical detail.
Practice the eyes
Use a small warm pale-gray area rather than a broad white patch. Place pupils according to the sculpt and intended gaze. Check the shared gaze after each eye instead of relying on one fixed geometric formula.
Clean up with skin tone
Use skin tone to narrow the eye white and socket boundaries, then review the expression at normal distance. Leave room for correction; one perfect dot is not the measure of a successful face.
