Your first clean base coat
Practice coverage, boundaries and cleanup on a small part. Includes a checklist and five-color palette.
Prepare
Choose a small part with a broad face and an edge. Follow the material and paint maker’s preparation instructions and test compatibility on a spare part. Upload a photo and plan main, secondary and accent colors.
Paint sequence
Start with the largest base-color area and inspect it after drying. Add thin coats as needed without disturbing partly dried paint. Paint adjacent regions, then clean their edges with the original base color. Adjust consistency for the paint in use rather than applying one universal ratio.
Check and record
Check for obscured detail under side lighting and readable boundaries at normal viewing distance. Record paint, primer and coat count. Save the concept before generating a numbered guide. Digital swatches are a starting point for choosing real paints.
