Dry brushing starts with unloading
Use a spare part to check grain, coverage and edges.
Test before touching the model
Unload excess paint on a test surface. Check that a light sweep leaves no large wet streak before touching the model.
Build brightness gradually
Start with broader midtones, then reduce the highlight area. Bristle stiffness, paint load and pressure all affect the result; change one variable at a time.
Inspect the surface
If grain becomes excessive, check paint condition and unloading rather than treating every rough result as intentional dry-brush texture.
